Prayer
Psalm 107: 1 – 22
Whether we are lost in a
dry place, imprisoned or sick we are encouraged to “cry to the Lord whose
steadfast love endures forever”.
Proverbs 29: 17 – 30: 6
These proverbs provide a
list of attitudes and behaviours well known to humans. They lead us to a
statement humility and recognition that only God is good.
Luke 6: 12 – 26
Jesus names the apostles
and gives the sermon on the plain, with the theme of humility and hope.
Collect for
Morning Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for your healing and
teaching, helping us to understand ancient scripture. Help us today to step out
in faith, hope and humility in everything we do through the power of your Holy
Spirit. Amen

We are reminded that
faithfulness leads to hope and pride to being brought low. We are to call on
the Lord for our great provision.
Genesis 27: 30 – 46
Esau discovers Jacob’s
deceit and does not get the blessing from his father that he expected. He plots
to kill Jacob who is told to flee to Haran and go to Rebekah’s brother Laban.
1 Timothy 4
Paul warns against false
teaching and encourages Timothy, though he is young, to be an example by
constantly publicly reading the scriptures, exhorting and teaching people in
the faith.

Caring nurturing God, you love us and want the best
for us. Help us to value reading scripture and faithfully serve you everyday so
that we bring glory and praise to you. We ask this through the grace of Jesus and
through the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen
