Collect for Morning Prayer

Path Mt Melville, Albany WA
2014 L Osburn

Dear Lord, whether we are weak and broken or leaders of your people, you love us and are faithful to us through all the ages. Help us to remember, no matter what happens on our life journey that you are always with us. It takes but a breath, a prayer, and our openness for you to be with us. Make our lives honour you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Sunday 2 March 2014
Evening Prayer

Genesis 15: 1 – 11, 17 – 18

God makes the first covenant with Abraham and promises that his descendants will be his own offspring and as numerous as the stars.

Psalm 32

This psalm is a dialogue between human and God. First the human acknowledges the freedom that comes from forgiven sin and after a period of painful silence, repents. The last section is full of God’s care, concern and promises to us.

Romans 4: 4 – 13

Paul draws on God’s covenant with Abraham and Abraham’s faith that was considered righteousness – this was before Abraham was circumcised. So, Paul argues faith is the first key. He also calls on David’s psalm above where it says blessed are those whose sins are forgiven.

Collect for Evening Prayer

Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk
Walpole WA 2014 L Osburn
Faithful and merciful God, your grace and blessings abound and do so for all, of us even before our hearts open to acknowledge you. Faith and humble repentance are all you ask of us. Be with us this night as we bring our day before you and as we bring our hearts before you, so that we too can experience being surrounded by your steadfast love through Jesus Christ. Amen.
