Morning
Prayer
Psalm 91
God is faithful. When we
love God there is our refuge and our strength and our salvation.
Matthew 8: 14 – 22
Jesus heals people from
sickness and afflictions of the spirit. Crowds of people came and he moved on.
A scribe wanted to follow Jesus and baulked – his father had died. Jesus’s response
is a challenge to all of us who seek the Kingdom.
Collect for
Morning Prayer
Ever-faithful God, we thank you for your great care
and generosity. We thank you for the life and ministry of Jesus our Lord,
redeemer and saviour. We want to live our lives with you, to follow Jesus and
to experience your Kingdom. Help us every day to make the right choices, to
trust in you, to be fearless in our faith. We ask this, confident of your love
and mercy, through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Evening
Prayer
Isaiah 59: 1 – 9
Isaiah tells us firmly
that God can hear us and can save us. The only block is that we defend our
actions rather than confess and repent.
Psalm 53
The psalmist reminds us
that God wants us to be wise and seek him, to do good in the world, and be free
from fear, terror and doubt.
Romans 3: 12 – 22a
All of do and say the
wrong things. We know we are held accountable. Being law-abiding is not enough.
Faith in Jesus Christ brings justification.
Collect for
Evening Prayer
Dearest Lord, you reach out to us, you teach us and
remind us through psalmists, prophets and missionaries. Open the ears of our
hearts to your call to faithfulness so that we may be justified and restored.
Help us recognise and rejoice in the great gift of your son Jesus Christ and
your ever-present Holy Spirit.
Amen
