Morning
Prayer
Psalm 62
For God my soul waits in silence: my salvation and my
hope come from God. All people and things and powers are temporary. God is our
rock and fortress and we shall not be shaken.
1 John 2: 18 – 28
The writer encourages the
Christians to stay firm and know that their baptism in Christ enables them to
discern the truth. Those who say things against Christ, even if they were
previously member of the church are false. We are to remember the message that
we will abide in Jesus and in the Father. The writer encourages us all to
continue abiding in Christ.

Evening
Prayer
Zephaniah 3: 14 – 20
The people can sing since they are blameless, their
enemies are gone and they need not fear disaster. God is in their midst and God
brings victory and renews in love. The oppressors will be dealt with and the
lame and outcast will be gathered – their shame will be turned into praise.
Everyone will be brought home and renowned throughout the earth.
Psalm 98
The psalm is a summons to all nations and
people to praise the Lord and rejoice in this name. God’s is the victory, God’s
is the strength and we are God’s people. God comes to judge the earth with
righteousness and equity.
Luke 21: 29 – 36
Consider
the fig tree. We know summer is coming by the sprouts. This generation will not pass away until this
occurs and Jesus’s words will never pass away.
So be on guard that your hearts are not weighed down with worry,
dissipation or drunkenness – be ready and not caught in a trap. Be alert and
pray that you may have the strength to escape all the things to come and to
stand before Jesus.

Pond, petals, flowers.. celebration Harrietville Vic L Osburn |
Almighty and loving God yours is the strength and yours is
the victory. It is you alone who will bring us to stand before Jesus singing
and dancing fear free. Remind us that this day approaches so that we set aside
those things that weigh us down, things that demobilise us or distract us in a
drunken fashion. Help us to remain alert to you, praying and looking to your
healing love for all through the power of your Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen
