Psalm 124
This psalm encourages Israel to say, “If it had not
been for the Lord who was on our side” (verses 1 & 2) and then lists what
might have happened. Israel blesses the Lord and acknowledges God as the source
of help.
John 7: 37 – 46
Jesus says that out of the believer’s heart flows
streams of living water and proclaims that people should come to him for
spiritual refreshment. Some in the crowd recognise him as a prophet or Messiah
and others ridicule.
The temple police are accountable to the Pharisees who
ask why they have not arrested Jesus. They reply that they have never heard
anyone speak like that.

O God of spiritual refreshment and love, you call us to come

Ezekiel 37: 15 – 28
God
tells Ezekiel to get two sticks and on one write the houses of Judah and the
other the houses of Israel, and join them together to make one stick. Ezekiel
is to explain that God will reunite Israel and Judah under God’s rule and one
Prince of the house of David.
Song to the Lamb
God the creator is worthy to receive glory and honour
and power for creating and enlivening all things. Jesus, the lamb is worthy for
his blood, shed to redeem us, from every nation of the earth and making us all
a kingdom of priests serving God. To God on the throne and the Lamb be blessing
and honour and glory and might forever.
Revelation 19: 4 – 10
John
hears a great multitude singing Hallelujah and praising God. The elders, the
living creatures all down and worship God. The noise of the praise and worship
is enormous. John is told to write down,
“Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb”. John
falls to worship at the feet of the messenger who speaks to him and is rebuked,
“Do not do it!” The messenger indicates equality with us who hold to the
testimony of Jesus. “Worship God!”

Frangipani Mandurah WA 2014 L Osburn |
God of unity, you bound Israel and Judah together under
David. You have bound us together with you through the crucifixion and resurrection
of Jesus. May we forever praise and glorify your name and live our lives focused on
serving you so that the whole world may be united in your love through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
