Morning Prayer
Psalm 116
The psalm gives thanks to God for healing. Even when
he is profoundly depressed the psalmist trusts in God and rejoices in salvation
rededicating himself to God and offering heart felt praise.
Revelation 22: 1 – 2 and 9 – 14
The angel shows John a vision of the river of the
water of life. Angels are fellow servants with us and with the prophets. We are
to worship only God. This vision and prophecy is not to be hidden away, but
shared. It is too late for us to change others; let them be. The end is coming
soon. Those who will be blessed, who have the right to the tree of life and to
enter the holy city are the ones who have been washed.

Magnificent Lord of wonders, you hear us when we call,
you heal us, redeem us and restore us. You sent Jesus to die for us and wash
our sins away. We praise and thank you. Give us voice and heart today to praise
you so that all can see we worship you and you alone through Jesus Christ your
Son our Lord and the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen.

Evening Prayer
Acts 8: 1b – 13
Saul is a key actor in the persecution of Christian
people and families. The believers scatter. Phillip (one of the first deacons)
goes to Samaria, telling the good news and healing people. Simon, a magician in
that place, has a large following but they believe Phillip and are baptised.
Simon believes too, is baptised and stays with Phillip.
Psalm 135: 1 – 4 and 13 – 21
This psalm is a song of praise and thanksgiving to
God. It calls upon the priestly tribes of Israel to praise the Lord.
Revelation 10
John has a vision of an enormous angel holding a tiny
scroll in his hand, which John is asked to eat. The scroll is sweet on the
outside with a bitter after taste. John is instructed to prophecy again about
many peoples, nations, languages and kings.

Awesome and loving God, you provided your early
deacons with gifts of the spirit to proclaim the good news, to heal and restore
the world. The news, of both your grace and the gift of your Son, is indeed
good. Keep us by your side, help us bring that sweet news to others and be with
them through the bitter times of separation from their old lives so that they
too can experience the joy of your kingdom through Jesus Christ your Son our
Lord, and the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen.
