Psalm 133
This psalm rejoices in family peace and harmony.
John 17: 20 – 26
Jesus prays for all those who will be brought to faith
by the disciples – the church universal. He asks that they have God and Jesus
in them just as Jesus and God are one so that the world may believe.
Jesus has given to us the glory he received from God
so that we all may be one and that we know God loves us just as God loves
Jesus. Jesus also prays that we may be with him in glory.
Jesus has started the world knowing God by showing the
disciples and making God known so that God’s love, in Jesus may be in them.

Acts 1: 15 – 26
Peter speaks to the gathered believers (about 120
people) and tells them what happened to Judas Iscariot and that his position in
the disciples needs to be filled. Two names are chosen Joseph (aka Barsabbas or
Justus) and Matthias. Prayers are offered to God who knows everyone’s heart to
choose. They cast lots and Matthias gains the position.
Psalm 68: 11 – 35
This portion of the psalm recalls the victories that
led God to be present on Mt Zion. Even other mountains envy the mountain chosen
by God. Blessed be the God of our salvation. Representative from Israel and
kings of other nations process and pay homage in unity. Smaller individuals and
powers who want to break the unity are to be rebuked and scattered.
The psalm ends singing praise and ascribing all power
to God: awesome God who gives power to his people. Blessed be God.
Revelation 14: 1 – 7 and 15: 2 – 4
The first section is a vision of The Lamb on Mt Zion
surrounded by thousands of people with the name of The Lamb and God written on
their foreheads. They begin singing a new song of praise.
An angel appears with an eternal gospel to proclaim
telling us to fear God, give Him glory and worship Him who made all there is.
The second section is another vision of people with
harps surrounding a glass sea mixed with fire singing the song of Moses and the
Song of the Lamb. The song praises God’s deeds, justice and truth. All are to fear
and glorify God. All people from all nations will come and worship.

Evening Prayer
Victorious
and almighty God you made us, love us and save us. May we be among those
who write your name and Christ’s name not only on our heads but also in our
hearts. Be with us as we reflect on your awesome grandeur and your commitment
to unity of all people in, through and with you, so that in the days to come our
thoughts, words and actions will build unity across this world through Jesus Christ
your Son our Lord, and the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen.
